Magic Garden

This was a project I've been working on for Backgrounds for Animation's class at the master I'm currently attending, tutorized by Donato Fierro, environment artist from, for example, Virtual Hero. For this class, we went to Ciutadella's Park here in Barcelona and we had to draw and take pictures for us to use as inspiration to develop an environment. I found interesting that big leaf and I imagined a character could even use it to walk on it and that it could be like a big greenhouse. Then we started a process of doing a better sketch and started doing the lineart. Later on, we worked first with greys to know more or less where the lights and shadows would be and then worked on the color. For the colors and some of the lights, I got inspiration from Avatar with those lights under the gigant mushrooms.
